Oich is a new Yiddish word that could be translated into English as "ouch", meaning, OUCH!, as in "Ouch, this world is getting weirder and weirder" or "Ouch, something really bad happened and I am pissed off" or "Ouch! this crazy misguided confused world we live in!"

By why say OUCH when OICH has a much better ring to it, a postmodern newly-coined bloggerly emailerly Yiddishism.

when things look bad, just type OICH! (with the ! mark) and be sure to emphasize that IT IS NOT A TYPO.

1. Oich! What a world we live in! Tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, bird flu, terrorism! OICH!

Yiddish Dictionary

''Oich'': Yiddish exclamation to denote disgust, pain, astonishment.
In English it would be OUCH, but in post-Yiddish Yiddish it is OICH. Go figure. Then again, don't.

OICH! Can be used in about one hundred seventy different ways, from the OICH! that you use when you heard that a friend's new car has gotten totalled going 75 miles per hour down Interstate 405, and he's managed to come out of it with bruises, scrapes and scratches, to the OICH! that you use when Windows just crashed on you and wiped out the work that you THOUGHT Word was autosaving.
